Happy Thanksgiving!

Michigan Workers Comp Lawyers want to wish all of our blog readers a happy Thanksgiving and remind people about the challenges facing injured workers in this state.

Many of our clients find that the holidays are the most difficult time of the year. This is especially true for individuals who are not receiving wage loss benefits and are struggling to support their families. Some of them will not be able to afford a turkey dinner this year.

We hope that this fact remains squarely in the minds of our state representatives who are currently in the process of reforming the workers comp law.

House Bill 5002 and Senate Bill 0708 will cause great harm to Michigan workers. These bills were written by special interest groups who simply want to save money on workers comp claims.

Where we go from here

Meaningful workers comp reform can happen if all stake holders are included in the reform process. The concept of phantom wages is repugnant to public policy and just a bad idea. It will create much more litigation and only hurt Michigan workers who find their wage loss benefits cut.

Now is the time to speak with your state representatives. House Bill 5002 has moved into the senate and could become law this year. Special interest groups have spent big money to make sure these changes happen. If enough regular people contact their representatives and demand that workers comp benefits be protected, we can stop this horrible legislation.

We stand with Michigan workers
