Mark Long been appointed as director of the Michigan Workers’ Compensation Agency.
LARA Director Mike Zimmer has announced the appointment of Mark Long as director of the Michigan Workers’ Compensation Agency (WCA). He replaces Kevin Elsenheimer who has served in this role since 2011.
“Mark has a proven track record of improving the efficiency of regulatory systems throughout state government and a has a diverse knowledge of Michigan’s workers’ compensation industry,” said Zimmer.
Director Long has previously served as a department manager and mediator for the WCA. In addition, he worked as a claims examiner for the Accident Fund of Michigan.
The Agency Director is responsible for administering the Worker’s Disability Compensation Act. He is empowered to conduct hearings regarding compliance. He also has the authority to waive the statutory appeal period for redemptions.
