We offer our annual list of workers’ comp grievances in the spirit of the U.S. Declaration of Independence.
Our law firm will be closed today in observance of Independence Day. We hope everyone has a wonderful holiday filled with parades, barbecues, fireworks, and summer fun.
Please also take some time and reflect on the problems facing injured workers. Many of our clients will be struggling to put food on the table and support their families. Here is our annual list of workers’ comp grievances that must be addressed immediately!
1. End phantom wages
Workers’ comp is supposed to pay 80% of the after-tax average weekly wage. Michigan law now permits insurance companies to reduce this amount based upon residual wage earning capacity. Phantom wages are used to slash weekly benefits. This practice must stop!
2. Stop IME abuse
Insurance companies use the same doctors over and over again to perform independent medical examinations. Some of these physicians make a career out of testifying and almost never find disability. It is time that we stop this abuse and limit biased medical reports.
3. Change the mindset
Michigan employers have saved more than $300 million dollars since 2011 legislative reforms were passed. The pure premium rate has dropped nearly 40%. We need to change the race to the bottom mindset and ensure that injured workers are treated fairly.
Michigan Workers Comp Lawyers never charges a fee to evaluate a potential case. Our law firm has represented injured and disabled workers exclusively for more than 35 years. Call (844) 201-9497 for a free consultation today.
