New Magistrate Appointed

Governor Rick Snyder makes appointment to the Workers’ Compensation Board of Magistrates.

Governor Rick Snyder has appointed John Sims to the Workers’ Compensation Board of Magistrates. Sims fills a vacancy and will serve a four-year term expiring January 26, 2021. He has been an active practitioner of workers’ compensation law for 40 years.

The Board of Magistrates consists of 17 members and hears cases and resolves dispute that arise under the Worker’s Disability Compensation Act of 1969 (WDCA).

Magistrates are responsible for deciding the facts and law in each workers’ compensation case. We are thankful for these hardworking professionals who help get cases settled through facilitation and make fair decisions at trial. It is not an easy job and neither side is usually happy with the final result.
