Employers and insurance companies deny benefits to people who wait to report an injury. They always assume you are lying and actually hurt yourself at home. Most people do not realize the extent of injury until a couple days later. We think it is important to report all injuries immediately after they occur.
You must also make a claim for workers compensation benefits within 2 years. Claim can be oral so simply asking for medical treatment or wage loss benefits under workers compensation should be sufficient.
Some employers refuse to submit claims to insurance companies. This is usually done out of fear that premiums will rise. We recommend that you contact a lawyer if this occurs. Don’t let the employer ruin your life just to save a few bucks.
