Office staff gives five tips on how to improve your workers’ comp situation.
Individuals who call our office will most will most likely speak with Jane or Angel before connecting with a lawyer.
Both are experienced professionals who want to help resolve your situation. Here are five tips on how to improve your case and successfully recover workers’ comp benefits.
Tip #1: Write down your questions.
Many people feel overwhelmed when calling a lawyer. Angel recommends writing down your concerns before you call. Taking notes will also allow you to refer back to important topics. Let us help you resolve these important issues.
Tip #2: Follow instructions.
You can literally make or break your case at the onset of litigation. The goal should be to resolve minor issues before they turn into major problems. Ask questions if you do not understand and follow the advice given by your lawyer. Don’t rely upon common sense because that is not enough to win.
Tip #3: Organize medical bills.
Sometimes clients have thousands of dollars in unpaid medical. We want to help you resolve these bills. Angel suggests keeping a running total of amounts owed and medical providers. Send this list to your lawyer every 30 days.
Tip #4: Listen to your voicemail.
We sometimes get panicked clients who missed a call from our office. Don’t worry and listen to your voicemail. You may find all of your questions have already been answered. If you need more help, we can put you in touch with the lawyer who called you. Calling back in the afternoon is suggested as the lawyers spend most mornings in court.
Tip #5: Update telephone number and address.
We need to be able to reach you if something important occurs in your case. Make sure our office knows when you change your telephone number or address.
Bonus Tip #6: Have patience.
Workers’ comp cases can take months to resolve. Information will be provided when available. Our lawyers promise to return telephone calls within 24 hours. Let the office staff know if you do not hear back from your lawyer.
