Workers’ Compensation Agency (WCA) releases magistrate disposition statistics covering period 01/01/18 through 12/31/18.

Magistrate Disposition StatsStatistics provided by the WCA show magistrates gave 17 open awards, 16 closed awards, and 28 denials in 2018.

An open award is when a magistrate orders payment of continuing wage loss and medical benefits. A closed award is when a magistrate orders payment for a specific time. A denial results in no payment of any benefits.

Magistrates decide facts and law for each disputed case. Their backgrounds shape how they view witnesses and medical evidence. We believe these statistics are useful when evaluating a case for trial or settlement.
