Raising awareness about spinal cord injury and medical treatment options under workers’ compensation in Michigan.

The U.S. Senate has designated September as National Spinal Cord Injury Awareness Month. This important resolution was passed to express support for better treatments, more effective therapies, and a cure for paralysis.

Our law firm wants to help raise awareness and education is the best approach. Here is some info about medical options under workers’ compensation.

Medical care

Medical care under workers’ compensation is a lifetime benefit. There should never be any co-pays or deductibles. Visits to the doctor, surgical procedures, hospital stays, prescription medications, and physical therapy are included. Wheelchairs and other appliances necessary to cure or relieve the effects of a work injury should also be covered.

Attendant care

Family members can receive up to 56 hours per week for providing attendant care. This is to help with activities of daily living. A spouse, brother, sister, child, parent or any combination will receive payment from the insurance company. A family member is generally entitled to the same hourly rate as a professional.

Home modifications

Home modifications should also be paid under workers’ compensation. This includes building ramps, widening doors/hallways, new bathrooms and kitchen. Anything that allows a person to safely return home and live independently should be covered.

Michigan Workers Comp Lawyers never charges a fee to evaluate a potential case. Our law firm has represented injured and disabled workers exclusively for more than 35 years. Call (844) 201-9497 for a free consultation today.
