Client behaviors meant to solve a problem but make a Michigan workers’ compensation case much harder.

A self-defeating strategy causes more problems than it solves. It is meant to help but usually has the opposite effect. Here is a warning for people who have their medical benefits stopped.

Getting hurt at work can be financially overwhelming. Most people live paycheck-to-paycheck and cannot afford to pay for medical treatment. Fear of accumulating debt is real.

It is tempting to put off seeing a doctor until the case is over. We believe this is a self-defeating strategy because up-to-date medical evidence is needed to win at trial. Injured workers always have the burden of proof.

Health insurance will pay medical bills that have been denied under workers’ compensation. This includes government programs like Medicaid and Medicare. We understand that co-pays and insurance deductibles are not cheap but this is a small investment. Reimbursement for these items can usually be accomplished through a settlement.

It is also possible to have a doctor wait for payment until the case is resolved. This should be discussed in advance and with approval of your lawyer. Amounts paid can be negotiated depending upon resolution of the case.

Michigan Workers Comp Lawyers never charges a fee to evaluate a potential case. Our law firm has represented injured and disabled workers exclusively for more than 35 years. Call (844) 201-9497 for a free consultation today.
