Fact #2: Travel reimbursement is $0.58 per mile beginning January 1, 2019. Meal rates for select cities are $10.25 for breakfast, $10.25 for lunch, and $24.25 for dinner. Reimbursement for lodging is $85.00 per night.

Fact #3: There were 21,313 lost time claims (over 7 days) in 2018. Statistics show duration of temporary disability was 16 weeks.

Fact #4: A total of 5,551 cases (Form 104A’s & C’s) were filed in 2018.

Fact #5: Detroit has the largest docket with 2972 pending cases at the end of 2018. This represents a 6% decline of from last year. Okemos was second busiest with 1227 pending cases. Pontiac was third with 1047.

Fact #7: Magistrates gave just 17 open awards in 2018. Closed periods represent another 16 awards. A total of 28 claims were denied.

Fact #8: Most employees opted to settle their claims as there were 4,429 redemption in 2018. The average settlement amount was $57,859.15.

Fact #9: The pure premium advisory rate decreased by 8.3% for 2019. Michigan employers have now seen a 49% drop since 2011 and have saved an estimated $492 million dollars.

Fact #10: Michigan’s cumulative pure premium decrease of 45% from 2011-18 was best in the Midwest and third in the nation.
