Ford Motor Company and Beaumont Health Network launch new medical transportation service.
The Detroit News is reporting that Ford Motor Company and Beaumont Health Network have started a new medical transportation service called GoRide. It covers more than 200 medical facilitates in Southeastern Michigan and is expected to grow to 60 vehicles by year end. Drivers are specially trained to help with elderly and disabled patients.

Michigan workers’ compensation law requires mileage reimbursement and/or payment of transportation to medical appointments. The mileage reimbursement rate is $0.545 per mile for 2018. Additional travel expenses such as meals and lodging can also be requested.
It can be difficult getting the insurance company to pay for travel expenses. We recommend sending reimbursement requests by certified mail with return receipt service. This can be used after 30 days late to seek penalties.
Insurance companies never want to pay for medical transportation. Getting a prescription from your doctor as to necessity is a first step.
