Lost Wages
Lost wages are calculated based upon a percentage of your average weekly wage. You should receive approximately 80% of the after-tax value of this amount. Most insurance companies pay wage loss benefits on a weekly basis but some pay every two weeks.
No lost wages are paid during the first week that you do not work. You are generally required by your employer to use vacation or sick days for this period of time.
Wage loss benefits will begin on the eighth day after your injury. If you are unable to work for a period of two weeks or longer, wage loss benefits will be recalculated and paid from the date of injury.
Medical Treatment
You are entitled to reasonable and necessary medical care for your work injury. This begins immediately and you do not have to wait to get medical treatment.
You will most likely be sent by your employer to an industrial clinic such as Concentra during the first ten days of medical care. You have the right to choose your own doctor after twenty-eight days from the start of medical care.
